Motherhood for a childless divorcee

Image
Most of my close friends have babies.  Its a thing.  The oldest of their children is nine.  The youngest less than a year.  Me?  I'm divorced and have no offspring.  Right, now that we've gotten that out of the way, let me tell you all about being a mom.  We are planning a girls trip cruise to Ensenada and I just sit in the background of the group chat waiting for my mom friends to find babysitters or sort things out with their husbands.  When asked for my opinion on dates my response is, "I don't have kids so you guys let me know what works for you and we'll do that." My schedule is wiiiiide open.  Including my nights.  I don't get woken up multiple times a night to comfort a hungry or grumpy child.  I can sleep, or stay up-  it is all on me.  (woot woot)  At my friend's kids' princess/prince birthday party I "borrowed" my niece in order to feel like I had a purpose to be there.  Her mom was there too so ...

Therapy

I hadn't written much over the past two years because I didn't want what I was living to be documented.  Or rather,  I could have documented it and gone to the police,  but I didn't.  I just left. A lot of you know what happened,  some through the grapevine and some from the original sources.  Basically,  I was in an abusive relationship and now I am in a happy one. August 2016.  An empty shell with long sleeves and a scarf to cover the bruises,  I walked into the University of Utah's Counseling Center.  I knew I needed to get help.  I was ready to end the pain at any cost,  so I filled out the questionnaire.  I was on the life or death end of severe situational depression.  She asked, "What reasons do you have to stay alive?"   I said, "Bella."   She asked, "Who can help you stay alive?"   I said, "Lauren."   She made me pinky promise that I wouldn't kill myself over the weekend and I held ...

Home is where the heart is.

Whilst discussing things with my friend who recently moved to California she stated,   "I don't miss Utah ,  I miss the people in Utah."   That is what makes home a home ,  the people.  If I could have brought my family and close friends to ZhuZhou,  I wouldn't have much of a reason to return to Utah,  except maybe the sunsets. :)  I know what it is like to leave home.  I know what it is like to open the door to an empty apartment and silence.  I know what it is like to miss people,  to miss the companionship of someone that loves you and you love them.  That has been my favorite part about being able to walk into my mother's home these past few months;  opening the door and falling to the ground in an overly dramatic death scene because Bryan just shot me down with a fake weapon,  or Bella telling me that she missed me,  or Steven just walking by and giving me a one-armed hug with food in the other hand befor...

TOKYO JAPAN SOUTH

I was sixteen when I graduated High School.  I remember being a part of the Seminary Council and planning out my life after graduation.  I was going to finish my BA in the years I had before turning 21 and then go on a full time mission.  I was going to change the world.  I was going to be successful and my life was going to work out just as I had planned. WRONG. My world fell apart.  I had to work full time and go to school part time.  In the four years it took me to get my Associates Degree,  I could have received my BA and right now be working on some masters program.  I finally finished my Associates degree and I wasn't proud of it.  I felt that I had failed my sixteen-year-old self.  She knew what she wanted,  she had it all planned out and me?  Well,  I was confused to say the least. I was twenty and still had a year to go before I was old enough to serve a mission.  I enrolled at the U, ...

Ten Months in CHINA:)

I can't believe its really happening! I'm going to Hunan, China to teach English at a University! Is this possible? Is it for real? I can't believe I'm doing it, but I AM GOING TO CHINA!!! I'm so excited, scared, nervous, ecstatic! Farthest from Salt Lake I have been is Guatemala, which is far, but its not another continent! Longest time away from home have been the weeks attending girls camp and various vacations here and there, but it doesn't compare to ten months. Ten months! Ten months away from home, away from my mom and brothers and sisters. Ten months in a different culture, a different world! Ten months eating funky foods, learning customs and traditions from a people I know hardly anything about. Ten months fending for myself physically, spiritually, and emotionally. . . . ten months! But this is it, my adventure. I'll cherish these next ten months forever. I'll learn and grow and hopefully be a good teacher as w...

Family CoWorkers Zhuzhou Area Hunter High School Salt Lake Community College Salt Lake Community College The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints The University of Utah Creative Woodworks, Inc. Acquaintances Go Back even though i love my family. i love my friends. i honestly can't wait for it all to end:) When i will walk by His side again. He will ask me questions then. Did you work hard? i did, i know. Did you love harder? i did, i do. Did you play? every single day. Did you face your trials? i did not run away. Daughter of mine, are you worthy to stand? i am. i am. Come then child, and take my hand. one day. one sweet day it will all be worth it. every tear, every heartache. i hope until then- i remain worthy to stand.

Fatherless.

I can't believe you are going to leave her. Darling Bella, so innocent and so tiny. I can't believe you will just walk away from her. From us. Look at Bryan! How can you ditch such purity? He knows not the world and all the horror it brings. He does not yet understand how satan can break up our family. Who are you? Did you ever love us? Has my whole life been a lie? The angry fights, the hurtful words. And all along you were planning, weren't you? Just biding your time until an opportunity arose to walk away- to escape. A tear drips down Denice's cheek... a steady flow of pain. A nine year old should not feel such pain. How will she be strong? She is powerless, fatherless. Leslie cowers in a corner... alone... what will she think ten years from now of the man who left her, right as her world becomes more confusing then ever? The anger dwelling in your heart spreads. It touches Steven. You pick on him and yell at him. One day, he might break....
