Tio Paco

A father.
A husband.
A follower of God.
A coach.
A leader.
A servant without applaud.
An uncle.
A brother.
A counselor.
A light.
An example and friend.
Tio Paco

A man is not measured by how extravagant and costly his house is,  but by the feeling inside of the walls he provided.  When he reaches heaven,  angels will measure the kinds words spoken,  the goals made and achieved,  the teachings given and lessons learned under the roof of his home,  none of which can be measured monetarily.  A man is not measured by his titles of power,  but the magnified humble titles of father,  husband,  friend,  uncle...  Tio Paco I miss you.
My uncle passed away on Monday and as we gathered in his home to be with family I was subconsciously looking for the peace I had felt there many times before.   I found it.  I entered his home,  peace touched my heart and I knew that I was in a good home,  a place of love and refuge.  I knew that my uncle wasn't there physically,  but his influence and love was present in each room and surrounding the people joined together in an eternal bond that is his family.  He was truly a family man.

Pictures of family members on the fridge and walls,  pictures of Tio Paco and Tia Lucero's wedding are the trophies he leaves for us to recognize the man he was on earth.  His good children who were taught to be missionaries,  to smile,  and to serve and love by their parents are his gold medals to the world.  The impressions in our hearts as those who learned from his quiet happy example are his treasures we treasure.  He was a great man.
"I don't want a love like Romeo and Juliet,  I want a love like Tio Paco and Tia Lucero."
-los primos
I only hope that that my children will grow in a home like the Garcia home.  A father that worked hard and played harder.  A mother that loves and nurtures because her heart is pure and virtuous.  I just think about what it was like to sit next to Tio Paco and Tia Lucero along the sidelines of the primos' soccer games.  It didn't matter if the players were five or fifteen,  the enthusiasm was real and I am grateful for the memories.

I'm grateful for your example.  I'm grateful that my siblings and I have had the example of two wonderful souls that we may pattern our lives after.  I am grateful that marriage and family doesn't end with this life.  No.  I know I will get to see my Tio Paco again and I know that his mansion in heaven will be marvelous,  with a great big soccer field in the back so that we can all have carne asada and play for eternity.

I know that through the atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ,  we can be with our families for eternity.  I love you Tio Paco,  we are so proud of you and we will stand strong together as your family on earth while we wait to see you again.  What a marvelous day it will be.
